Australia Women`s Cricket: Sutherland`s Century Steers Team to Victory

Australia's women's cricket team has made a significant comeback in the ongoing ODI series against India. Annabel Sutherland, the 23-year-old Australian all-rounder, has been instrumental in this resurgence. In the third ODI at the WACA, Sutherland smacked her second ODI century, scoring 110 runs off 95 deliveries. This impressive performance helped Australia post a total of 6-298, setting India a challenging target of 299 runs for victory.

Sutherland's innings was marked by nine boundaries and four sixes, making her the first Australian woman to score an ODI hundred batting at No. 5 or lower. Her partnership with Ash Gardner (50 from 64 deliveries) and Tahlia McGrath (56 not out from 50 balls) was crucial in stabilizing the innings after Indian seamer Arundhati Reddy ripped through Australia's top order. Reddy finished with career-best figures of 4-26 from ten overs, the best by a visiting bowler against Australia in women’s ODIs this century.

The match saw a thrilling finish, with Sutherland reaching triple figures in the final over with a massive six. However, she was run out on the penultimate delivery of the innings. Despite this, Australia's total was enough to set India a daunting task, and the series continues with high stakes.
