Elton John Struggles with Eyesight After Severe Infection

Elton John, the renowned pop icon, has been dealing with a severe eye infection that has left him with limited vision in one eye. This condition has significantly impacted his ability to watch his new musical, `The Devil Wears Prada,` which he wrote the score for. Despite his challenges, John remains optimistic about his recovery and has been receiving updates on his condition.

During the opening night of `The Devil Wears Prada` at London's Dominion Theatre, which was also a charity gala for the Elton John AIDS foundation, John gave audience members an update on his condition. He expressed his difficulty in seeing the musical, stating, `I haven't been able to come to many of the previews because, as you know, I've lost my eyesight so, it's hard for me to see it.` However, he added that he loves to hear it and found it to sound good during the performance.

John revealed in September that he had been dealing with a severe eye infection that left him with only limited vision in one eye. He mentioned that it would take some time before his sight returns to the impacted eye. In a recent interview with `Good Morning America,` John expressed hope and encouragement about his recovery but admitted that he cannot even see a lyric at the studio. He emphasized, `I can't see anything, I can't read anything, I can't watch anything.`

Despite his current challenges, Elton John continues to be a prominent figure in the entertainment industry. He achieved EGOT status earlier this year after winning an Emmy for outstanding variety special (live) for his show `Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium.` Additionally, he has a documentary titled `Elton John: Never Too Late` set to release on December 13.
