Indian Kabaddi Team Faces Setbacks and Successes

Indian Kabaddi Team Faces Setbacks and Successes

The Indian kabaddi team has been in the news for both positive and negative reasons. Recently, the Indian government denied permission to its kabaddi team to participate in a series of friendly matches scheduled to be held in Pakistan. The Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) had planned to host the Indian team for matches in Kartarpur, Lahore, and Bahawalpur, but the tour was canceled due to India's decision[1].

Despite this setback, the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2024 has been a highlight for Indian kabaddi. Sunil Kumar, the captain of U Mumba, made history by becoming the most successful captain in PKL history. He achieved his 74th win as a captain, surpassing Iranian legend Fazel Atrachali's record of 73 wins. Sunil dedicated his achievement to his seniors, Anup Kumar and Ajay Thakur, who have been instrumental in his success[2].

The PKL 2024 has been highly competitive, with several teams vying for the top spot. The current standings show Haryana Steelers leading with 61 points, followed closely by Patna Pirates with 52 points. U Mumba is in third place with 51 points, while Telugu Titans and U.P. Yoddhas are also in contention[5].
