Virat Kohli Dominates in Perth Test

Virat Kohli has made a significant comeback in the cricket world with an unbeaten century in the first Test against Australia in Perth. This performance has left many in awe, including former Australian captain Allan Border and cricket legend Matthew Hayden, who have expressed their disappointment over Australia's inability to contain Kohli.

Kohli, who had not scored a Test century in 18 months, roared back to form with an unbeaten 100 in the second innings. This achievement marked his seventh Test century in Australia, a record he now holds as the most by an Indian batter on Australian soil. His century also helped India secure a thumping 295-run victory over the hosts, a significant win in the five-match series.

Allan Border, who was critical of Australia's handling of Kohli, expressed his disappointment on SEN Radio, stating, `I was really disappointed in the way we let Kohli roll on to a hundred without much resistance.` He further added, `We don’t want this guy full of confidence for the rest of the series.` Border also questioned the tactics of skipper Pat Cummins, suggesting that they allowed Kohli to regain his rhythm after his struggles against New Zealand in the recent home series.

Matthew Hayden shared similar views, pointing out flaws in Australia's field placements and suggesting that they missed opportunities to contain Kohli early in his innings. Hayden criticized the delayed use of short-pitched bowling against Yashasvi Jaiswal, who initially appeared susceptible to this tactic.

Ricky Ponting, another cricket legend, analyzed Kohli's change in strategy that helped him achieve his 30th Test ton. Ponting noted that Kohli trusted his game during the second innings, which paid off well for him. This century also marked Kohli's 81st international century and his 12th international century in Australia, the most by any visiting batter.

The Indian team is currently in Canberra for a tour match against the Prime Minister's XI during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The team received a warm welcome at Parliament House, and Australian assistant minister of foreign affairs Tim Watts expressed his respect for Kohli, stating that he supports Royal Challengers Bangalore (RC because it gives him an opportunity to root for Kohli.
