Neymar`s Injury Concerns and Brazil`s World Cup Qualifying Struggles

Neymar, the Brazilian forward, has been dealing with injury concerns after his recent return to the pitch. Following a year-long absence due to an ACL and meniscus injury, Neymar made his comeback for Al Hilal on October 21, 2024. However, he was forced off the pitch during the AFC Champions League match against Iran's Esteghlal due to discomfort in the back of his left thigh[2].

Dorival Júnior, the coach of the Brazil national team, has expressed his desire for Neymar's return to the team. Despite Brazil's struggles in the CONMEBOL 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifying standings, where they currently sit in fifth place with only two points from the November international break, Dorival Júnior believes Neymar's presence would significantly improve the team's performance[1].

Neymar's absence has been particularly felt as Brazil managed only two goals in its last two matches, with one of those goals coming from open play. The team's attack, featuring Vinícius Júnior and Raphinha, has not been able to compensate for Neymar's lack of involvement. Dorival Júnior hopes that Neymar will be fully fit by March or the following year to make a meaningful contribution to the team[1].
