India Avoids Follow-On in Brisbane Test

India's cricket team has managed to avoid a follow-on in the ongoing Test match against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane. The final day of play saw a valiant effort from India's lower order batsmen, particularly Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep, who put on an unbeaten 39-run stand to stretch India's fight.

The day was marked by several interruptions due to rain, which delayed the start of the second session and forced an early Tea. Despite these challenges, India's No. 10 and 11 batsmen showed resilience, with Ravindra Jadeja and Nitish Kumar Reddy initially looking untroubled against Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon. However, Australia captain Pat Cummins brought himself on and dismissed Reddy, leaving Jadeja to continue his innings with Mohammed Siraj.

Jadeja's signature sword celebration has become a highlight of this year's Border-Gavaskar Trophy, as he powered India's lower order push in his very first innings of the tour. The match has been a closely contested affair, with both teams showing determination and skill.

For Australia, dismissing one of the two remaining Indian batsmen early on day four could open up significant possibilities. KL Rahul has looked stable at the crease, while Rohit Sharma has been vulnerable against high pace in recent months. Australia can afford to be aggressive in their tactics, aiming for wickets while also being prepared to change their plans if India manages to score runs.

India will be relieved to have avoided the follow-on, but their focus now shifts to batting for time. With the threat of rain looming over day four, any route towards a win has been eradicated. The Indian team will be more than happy to settle for a draw and go back to the drawing board ahead of the Boxing Day Test at the MCG.
